Electronic Music Saves Lives

It was over two years ago. I was a senior in high school. I was honestly depressed about things going on in my life at that time. I had no idea where I wanted to go in life, I just thought I'd figure it out eventually. I didn't even feel like I belonged with any group of people either. Then it all changed. I heard the most amazing thing. That thing was electronic music.

I remember hearing "Ghosts n' Stuff" by Deadmau5 (yes this is the song that got me into EDM) and I thought it was the best thing I had ever heard. From there I just started diving deeper into what I learned to be electronic music. Like every person who starts learning about something new I had no idea what anything was called or where to even start. I quickly learned how massive the electronic world is. From the moment I started listening to electronic music I fell in love and my life literally started to change.

I say all that to show how powerful electronic music, or any music for that matter, can be in a person's life. People always ask me why I have such a love and passion for this so called crazy genre of music. I can honestly tell those people it's because it changed my life. I went from a depressive state in life to being the happiest I had ever been, all because of this music. I know it may sound over dramatic but I honestly don't know where I will be without this music in my life.

But why electronic music? When I listen to electronic music I feel something I don't feel with any other genre of music. I can't explain it. It's just an uplifting type of music or most of it at least. When I listen to electronic music it's like I forget about the worries of the world and I can escape from reality for at least a while. I can't explain how, but electronic music has made me a much happier, livelier, and even confident person. It's become such an important part of my life and who I am as a person. It's like I finally found my identity as a person through this music. Electronic music has impacted me so much that I've even chosen my career path based on wanting to work in the electronic music world as a show producer. It's also made me feel apart of something. It's helped me connect with so many wonderful and amazing people I would have never met if it wasn't for electronic music. I've met a lot of my closest friends in college through electronic music. It's like I belong to a giant EDM family and it's a wonderful feeling. It's no understatement when I say electronic music is an important thing in my life and is a major part of who I am.

I don't expect people to understand why I love electronic music so much or that it really changed my life in such a major way. But I know there are others like me who share in the love and passion for electronic music. I know it has changed other people's lives as well. As for those who are outside the electronic scene I only hope you understand why this music is so important to me and others just like me. As for me electronic music is the best genre out there but I know everyone has their tastes and I respect that. I'm sure we can all agree that no matter the music we listen to, it is able to connect us to other people and the world around us in such a unique way. It's just incredible how powerful a genre of music can be to a person. So if you're an electronic music fanatic like me I know you understand everything that I'm saying. And for those that don't care for electronic music I hope you now have a clearer picture of why so many of us are so in love with this uplifting, indescribable genre. I'm truly grateful that I discovered this genre. I can truly say I'm one of the many who's life was saved by electronic music.
